The Above Ground Hot
Tub Dangers
Although children aren’t typically the main users of hot
tubs, the rise of the personal family hot tubs above ground have become so
large that it is hard in the summer to not find a family home without one. If it isn’t a hot tub above ground it is a
pool above ground as they are increasingly popular also.
However, these when not used properly can cause a very real
and imminent danger to the very families that have purchased them for family
enjoyment and relaxation. The hot tubs
above ground are often left unattended and not covered and in the blink of an
eye a young child slips in and loses his or her life before anyone even
recognizes that they are gone.
This is one of the main reasons that hot tubs above ground
are great but in the same breath it seems to give the notion to consumers that
they don’t have to follow the same safety rules as they would ordinarily if
they had a hot tub that was professionally installed in the ground. It would have to follow by guidelines that
would include it having to be a fenced off area and that it always had a cover
on when not in use.
The same rules don’t apply to the hot tubs above ground and
since there is nobody that officially governs over these hot tubs, they often
go uncovered and provide a potential hazard.
It is so important that you let solid common sense guide you in these
measures with the above ground hot tubs and if you are unaware of the unreal
amount of accidental drowning that take place each year just do a quick search
through a local library and you’ll be amazed!
Think Safety!
Even as these hot tubs above ground are not governed by
necessary rules and regulations it is still essential that you, as an owner of
a hot tub above ground to be diligent in caring for the safety of your family
as well as any others. It doesn’t take
but a second for a small child to wander off and slide into an uncovered pool
unnoticed and it is not a risk that is even worth taking.
You are responsible for the safety of every single person
that is near your home or in your home whether they are using the hot tub above
ground or not. Just because you have
company that wasn’t intended to go relaxing in a hot tub doesn’t mean that a
child wouldn’t end up trying to swim in it.
